As has been observed in earthquakes throughtout the world, a wide range of existing buildings have proven to have substantial hazard to life safety. In working with architects, developers, and owners, we’ve assisted in upgrading a multitude of structures in the LA region and beyond.
2. CANDIANI URM RETROFIT
Voluntary seismic improvement and tenant improvement of an existing 7,000sf unreinforced masonry structure in downtown Los Angeles.
From the voluntary retrofit of unreinforced masonry buildings, to advanced analysis, evaluations, and risk assesments, of historic steel and concrete frame buildings, we’ve worked to help our clients understand risk and work towards mitigating earthquake deficiencies in their buildings.
In working within the performance-based design document, ASCE 41 - Seismic Evaluation and Reprofit of Existing Buildings, we’re continually able to provide custom tailored solutions that meet the needs of clients. With existing structures, a fine balance between earthquake risk, performance objectives, and expected use and life of buildings must be met.
No existing building is the same as the other making the importance of client communicaiton and understanding one of the key necessities in any building retrofit.
