ESKENAZI HOSPITAL ART WALL
Indianapolis, IN USA
2014
A collaboration with Los Angeles based artist, Rob Ley, the Eskenazi Hospital existing parking garage was transformed by a visually interactive facade. A system of panels made up of custom extruded aluminum tubes were developed to facilitate the construction. The varying angles of panels was optimized to include changing wind loads with respect to tile locations.
Location and angles of tiles derived to accommodate the varying wind loads acting on the facade. This project sought to explore parallels between techniques of two-dimensional image construction and the tectonic considerations present in the design and fabrication of building enclosure.
