UCLA Class Site Tour
Nous Partner Liz Mahlow recently guest lectured for the UCLA studio “Advanced Building Construction: Tectonic Imagination” taught by Kevin Daly of kdA that included a site visit to a Nous’ project wrapping up construction in Santa Monica. The roughly 42,000 SF award winning design by HGA features an articulated heavy timber roof construction punctured with pitched ruled surface forms adding both volume and northern light. Operable north-facing store-front facade panels add warmth to the interior space with natural ventilation and light. Methods of fabrication and structural detailing techniques used to keep a visually clean design in a high seismic zone were highlighted.
