WEBBER HOUSE – SUN VILLA
Los Angeles, CA USA
2021
Architect A. Quincy Jones designed the modern style house for Frank and Mary Webber in 1950. The design is an example of the architect's "Sun Villa" style: simple post-and-beam construction made affordable for the modest budget. The Sun-Villa prototype is described as "an achitect's solution to a builder's problem which proves that top-flight modern design can offer more for money in the most competitieve building field - the house marked." The Sun-Villa prototype was described as a skillful application of modern engineering methods to a new, functional architecture- resulting in a hospitable, healtful home... full of luxurious necessities... that the average person can afford to buy and own. Nous worked alongside the Los Angeles based design duo Claret-Cup for the restoration of the historic home.
